WINDHOEK, 21 OCT – The Namibian Community Trust (NCT) on Saturday handed over new hostel facilities to the Frans Frederick Primary School at Fransfontein in the Kunene Region.
The school was built in 1964 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN).
Speaking at the ceremony, ELCRN’s Associate General Secretary Pastor Wilfred Nico Diergaardt said the hostel operates to fulfil three primary goals – to provide an opportunity for children from commercial farms and villages to attend school and have shelter; provide a Christian education to the children and to guide and assist them during their developmental years, in the absence of their parents.
“These goals have been the modus operandi for the hostel since its inception and it continues to provide the impetus for all levels of hostel operation,” he said.
Angelina Sinvula, a trustee of the Namibian Community Trust previously known as the Namsov Community Trust, handed over the three new hostel blocks and renovated structures valued at N.dollars 3.5 million.
The hostel could previously accommodate only 40 learners, but it will now be able to accommodate 100 learners.
She said the Namibian Community Trust believes it should complement Government’s quest to deliver essential services such as shelter to Namibians in all corners of the country.
“We are honoured to be part of the team that is assisting with the eradication of poverty in our country,” Sinvula said.
