WINDHOEK, Dec. 10 — The President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, has extended his congratulations to Ghana’s President-Elect, John Dramani Mahama, following his victory in the December 7, 2024, general elections.
In a press release dated December 9, signed by Press Secretary Alfredo Tjiurimo Hengari, President Mbumba praised the democratic process and the commitment of the Ghanaian people to upholding democracy and the rule of law.
“On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Namibia, I extend heartfelt congratulations to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their exceptional victory in the general elections held on December 7, 2024. This historic election reflects the unwavering commitment of the Ghanaian people to democracy and the rule of law,” President Mbumba stated.
The Namibian leader highlighted the trust Ghanaians have placed in John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, noting it as a testament to his dedication to the nation’s development.
“Your election is a testament to the trust the Ghanaian people have in your leadership and your unwavering commitment to their well-being and progress,” he added.
President Mbumba also reflected on the deep bonds of friendship and cooperation between Namibia and Ghana, rooted in their shared histories and mutual support during Namibia’s struggle for independence. He expressed optimism about working with President-Elect Mahama to further strengthen these bilateral ties for the benefit of both nations.
“As Namibia and Ghana share a history of friendship and cooperation, I look forward to working closely with President-Elect Mahama to enhance these ties, fostering growth and development for our countries,” Mbumba said.
In his closing remarks, President Mbumba wished President-Elect Mahama success in his new mandate.
