WINDHOEK, JAN 21 – Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC), Standard Bank Namibia, Air Namibia and Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) today launched the Teen Inspirational Summit, which will focus on and is spearheaded entirely by young adults.
The aim of the teen summit is to engage youth leaders to explore issues relevant to them and propose solutions through the dialogue, creative innovation and thought changing actions.
The Summit is themed “Connecting with tomorrow’s leaders.”
At the launch, Tunohole Mungoba, Coordinating Journalist for My Zone, said there was a firm belief in telling and sharing the stories that young people have to share.
“We strive to provide them with that platform – a place that allows the children of Namibia to express themselves and which allows others to engage in the conversation as well. MTC has thus provided an opportunity for dialogue to take place with the launch of the Teen Inspirational Summit. As the media partner of this platform, we aim to ensure that all stories are heard.”
MTCs Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Captial and Corporate Affairs Officer said the theme was deliberately chosen in an attempt to grant the role that youth play as agents of change and as critical actors in promoting insights towards a better world.
“In doing so we light the path towards their greatness because the future belongs to the youth,” he explained.
Ekandjo called upon “the entire Namibian public and especially agency and institutions charged with the sacred responsibility of nurturing for the affairs of the young people in the country to rally behind the Teen Summit by making sure that young people from across the country attend this summit.”
Standard Bank Namibia’s Head of Marketing and Communications Marget Mengo said: “In keeping with our motto of Moving Forward as underpin by our Corporate Social Investment Strategies, we are proud to support the Teen Summit for it exactly speak our languages of ensuring a legacy of sustainability – and what better way then to engage with tomorrow’s leaders today.”
The Teen Inspirational Summit will feature a diverse range of speakers and personalities from the African continent and beyond such as, Nigerian YouTube comedian Success from the Mark Angel Comedy Fame, DJ Arch Jnr from South Africa, Namibian Champion Debater Christian Prinsloo, Motivational speakers Rebekka Nghilaluwa, King Nahh and Kimberley Malope.
