MAPUTO, Nov. 19 — Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi said here on Monday that the government is waiting for the former rebel movement, now the main opposition Renamo’s agenda for Demilitarization, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) process.
“We are continuing to wait for the agenda agreed with Renamo to take firm steps towards the reintegration of party members,” said the president.
According to the president, the government is looking to the Renamo party to follow up and “it is important that Renamo’s leadership remains consistent for the rapid completion of the process”.
In the prospect of reintegration, Nyusi said that a military contribution to the promotion of peace is expected from all military personnel.
Some days ago, the president said that the process should be completed by the end of the year, and the reintegration process has already begun, with the presence of foreign observers in Mozambique.
