KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — Malaysia on Tuesday launched a new employment program under its iTEKAD social finance initiative to help individuals from vulnerable communities secure stable jobs and sustainable incomes.
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said in a statement that the iTEKAD Employment program complements the existing iTEKAD Entrepreneurship and Protection programs, expanding the initiative’s support for low-income and underserved groups.
The program brings together financial institutions, funding partners, training providers and corporate employers to provide participants with skills training, financial education, job placement assistance and access to financial solutions.
The central bank said the initiative aims to create a structured pathway to employment, enabling participants to build sustainable incomes, improve their financial well-being and strengthen their livelihoods.
“(It) has evolved into a broader platform for economic empowerment,” BNM governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said.
“It is a new initiative that aims to help those willing to work gain the skills, support and pathways needed to secure sustainable employment,” he added.
