WINDHOEK, 15 Aug. 15 -– The government has changed the Heroes’ Day Logo and theme.
The unveiling of the new logo and theme by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology was done on 15 August 2022 in Windhoek.
The new logo and theme will be for the commemoration of the day in the next five years. The new theme will be ‘Honouring our Martyrs (Heroes and Heroines).
Executive Director Audrin Mathe said the theme will be used at this year’s commemoration. This will be the 32nd Heroes’ Day celebration since independence.
He further explained that the features in this logo are two Namibian flags, which symbolise peace, unity and common loyalty to the Namibian state.
“The Eternal Flame symbolises the Namibian nation’s eternal remembrance of the sacrifices of our heroes and heroines and our perpetual gratitude to them and in memory of war victims,” he said.
The silhouette of three soldiers represents Namibia’s armed struggle for independence. The theme pays homage and honour to all who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our liberty and independence.
“All Namibian public and private institutions are encouraged to decorate their attire and work environments with this logo as the case might be in celebrating this important Day,” Mathe encouraged.
He confirmed that transport will be made available for members of the public within the Hardap region, and pick-up points will be announced at a later stage.
