Geingob wants more business with Canada

WINDHOEK, 24 SEP – President Hage Geingob has invited Canadian business people to do business in Namibia.
Press Secretary Alfredo Hengari said in a statement issued on Monday, the president made this appeal during his one-day state visit to Canada on Friday. Geingob was meeting that country’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
Namibia, according to Geingob, has a conducive business environment and new investments are needed for employment creation and inclusive growth.
Meanwhile, Geingob applauded Canadian companies presently operating in Namibia for their “exemplary investments and practices”.
He further praised Canada’s assistance in training the Namibian Police in the fight against crime.
“Namibia will always welcome more Canadian support to deal with crime,” Geingob said, which was well received by Trudeau, who promised that further modalities would be explored to deepen cooperation in this regard.
Geingob is scheduled to attend the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, which is currently underway.
On the margins of the UNGA, Geingob will hold bilateral meetings with several heads of state and government including Cuba, Ireland, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Estonia and Norway. – NAMPA
