WINDHOEK, Aug. 25 — In a speech at a business networking reception in Windhoek on August 23, 2023, Counselor Wei Jinming of the Chinese Embassy in Namibia said that China and Namibia are natural economic and trade partners with complementary advantages.
He noted that Namibia’s pillar industries include mining, fishery, agriculture and animal husbandry, and tourism. In recent years, Namibia has been focusing on the development of clean energy, such as green hydrogen, wind energy, and solar power. China’s huge domestic demand provides a very broad market space for Namibia’s mineral products, fishery, agriculture and animal husbandry.
Counsellor Wei also said that China has always been committed to supporting the modernization of Namibia. He cited examples of Chinese investment in mineral resources development, road transportation, ports, information and communications, infrastructure construction, marine fisheries, education and medical care.
He said that the cooperation between the two countries in these fields has promoted the economic and social development of Namibia and improved people’s livelihood and well-being.
Counsellor Wei expressed his confidence in the future of China-Namibia’s economic and trade cooperation. He said that the two countries are good friends and reliable partners who trust each other. He said that the prospects for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries are very broad.
He concluded by saying that he looks forward to working hand in hand with friends from all walks of life to further expand the mutual benefit and pragmatic cooperation between China and Namibia.
