KIEV, Sept. 4 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said late Thursday that he expected to meet U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys in the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to seek a resolution to the conflict.
Zelensky said in a post on X that U.S. representatives have confirmed plans to visit both Kiev and Moscow, and hold meetings with each side, for which tentative dates have already been set.
The Ukrainian negotiation team is currently preparing and ready to engage with U.S. representatives “properly and substantively,” Zelensky said, stressing the importance of active U.S. involvement.
Last month, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, announced that Ukrainian and Russian delegations could meet in September under U.S. mediation for talks aimed at ending the conflict.
Delegations from Ukraine, the United States and Russia previously held two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 23-24 and Feb. 4-5, followed by another round in Geneva on Feb. 17-18. The negotiations have been suspended since then. (Namibia Daily News / Xinhua)
