DAR ES SALAAM, July 31– Tanzanian Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba on Friday launched two modern patrol boats to strengthen maritime security in the Indian Ocean and safeguard the country’s growing blue economy. N
chemba commissioned the vessels, named PB Sailfish 02 and PB Sailfish 03, at the Dar es Salaam port. He said the patrol vessels will play a critical role in protecting Tanzania’s territorial waters, combating illegal maritime activities, and enhancing safety along the coastline.
He noted that improved maritime security will also benefit neighboring countries that rely on Tanzania’s ports, reinforcing the country’s role as a key regional gateway for trade in East and Southern Africa.
The prime minister directed public institutions responsible for operating the vessels to allocate adequate funds to ensure continuous patrol operations and effective utilization. (Namibia Daily News / Xinhua)
