LUSAKA, Feb. 3– A forum aimed at exploring avenues for accelerating investment in Africa‘s energy sector opened here on Monday, with a call for stakeholders to use the event to promote increased investment in the sector.
The Continental Energy and Infrastructure Investment Forum (CEIIF), being held from Monday to Thursday, has brought together industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, development institutions, and investors to explore practical pathways for accelerating infrastructure delivery and the energy transition across the southern African region.
The event is being held outside of South Africa for the first time and is being organized by Zambia’s investment agency, the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), in association with CEIIF Zambia.
Albert Halwampa, director-general of the ZDA, urged delegates to utilize the event to generate transactions that would accelerate investments in the energy sector, noting that the forum provided a platform to connect independent power producers with financiers to unlock financial closure.
