Opuwo –DECEMBER 18- The Vice President and President-Elect, Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, officially inaugurated the state-of-the-art Kunene Police Regional Headquarters in Opuwo today. This landmark event highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing public safety and service delivery in the region.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Nandi-Ndaitwah commended the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security for its dedication to completing this vital project.
“This facility is a testament to our commitment to supporting the women and men in uniform who work tirelessly to protect our communities. Let us ensure it is maintained and utilized effectively to serve the people of Kunene and Namibia at large,” she said.
The modern complex boasts 44 administration offices, nine record rooms, two receptions, a boardroom, a radio room, a server room, and a logistics warehouse, among other facilities.
Additional infrastructure includes a vehicle clearance building, public ablution facilities, two guardhouses, covered parking bays, access roads, and a standby generator, ensuring continuous operations even during power outages.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that the headquarters would streamline police operations by centralizing essential services, thereby improving efficiency and accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
“This facility reflects the government’s dedication to building a safer and more secure Namibia, especially for communities in the Kunene region,” she added.
