WINDHOEK, MAY 1– Marinda Stein, a board member at the Namibia Film Commission, said Namibian filmmakers hope for more involvement with Chinese counterparts.
Stein said this during an information sharing session at the unveiling of the Namibia Film Commission’s 2019 Industry Development Plan that was held Tuesday in Windhoek.
Speaking about plans for the 2019/2020 financial year, Stein said they plan to have more involvement with the Chinese film industry. “China has a huge film industry that would be very beneficial for Namibia. They have great talent that we can surely learn more from. It is time for Namibia to make use of these opportunities,” Stein said.
Stein said Namibia also expects cooperation with filmmakers from the United States and the European countries.
Stein added that the Namibia Film Commission also wants to strengthen relationships with more African countries. Stein said the Namibia Film Commission will visit Ghana and Nigeria later this year to tap into their wealth of distribution networks and film expertise.
At the event, Stein revealed that the Namibia Film Commission received 3.6 million Namibia dollars (252,000 U.S. dollars) for the film and video fund for this financial year. – XINHUA
