PARIS, FEB 11 — An employee of Loomis, a cash handling company, stole around 3 million euros (3.39 million U.S. dollars) in cash, which he was supposed to deliver in Aubervilliers, northeastern Paris, a local newspaper reported on Monday.
In the early morning, the driver of an armored van sped away in his vehicle “loaded with money” after he dropped two of his colleagues off to deliver cash at a distribution point in the capital’s suburb, according to Le Parisien newspaper.
Later, the van was found empty a few blocks away, it said.
The report said that the 28-year-old driver made away with an estimated 3 million euros. He was still at large Monday afternoon.
Paris police are investigating the incident. (1 euro = 1.13 U.S. dollars) – XINHUA
