Exhibitors at Okakarara satisfied with influx of people

OKAKARARA, 05 SEP  – Exhibitors at the Okakarara Trade Fair underway at Okakarara on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the influx and turnout of visitors at their business stalls.
The 12th edition of the Okakarara Trade Fair kicked off on Monday and is expected to end on Sunday at the Okakarara Trade Fair Centre.
A total of 87 stalls for corporate, small and medium entrepreneurs and Government ministries were already erected.
A local entrepreneur, Samuel Petrus told Nampa in an interview at the fair that his stall has been visited by nearly 200 clients on Tuesday alone, buying cooked traditional meals and soft drinks.
“There is good business here. The people are coming in numbers, it is really impressive and they are supporting my business,” he said.
Tjeripo Tjikuua who is heading the fair’s agriculture department said he was very excited to see farmers bringing their best fattened and good-looking livestock to this year’s show.
He added that the small and large stock kraals were all booked, with some farmers who were on Tuesday still transporting their livestock from local farms in the Otjozondjupa and Omaheke regions.
An exhibitor, Pondo Kondjou brought in three heifers and an eight-year-old Brahman nicknamed Jordan from his farm, Otjituezu in the Grootfontein District.
“I have Jordan with me, I am sure he will attract a lot of attention from viewers,” Kondjou said.
Another participant from the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Siegfriedine Kazapua on her part thanked the Okakarara Trade Fair Society for organising a seminar for the pensioners, which took place on Tuesday.
Kazupua, a social worker by profession said more than 150 pensioners attended the seminar held in the Chief Kuaima Riruako Hall.
“We sensitised them on how defenceless and vulnerable they can be, and how they can be exploited financially or abused by some naughty young people in their communities,” she explained.
Kazapua urged organising committees of trade fairs in the country to create platforms that discuss poverty in general, crime and also general social welfare of pensioners as a way of enticing participation of young and old people at their shows. – NAMPA
