REHOBOTH, 17 JUL – The Kunene Second Division Football League on Monday expelled Kamanjab-based Revengers Football Club (FC) from the league after they failed to play six league matches, four of them consecutively, in the league’s second leg.
The four consecutive matches the team failed to play were against PUBS FC, Robber Chanties, Gariseb Orlando Pirates and Bethlehem Boys.
Kunene Regional League Administrator, Moses !Ganeb on Tuesday confirmed the expulsion and told Nampa that the team had brought the matter upon themselves.
“The laws on football are very clear with regard to teams not playing four matches consecutively as they automatically expel themselves from league,” said !Ganeb.
He said the endorsement of the expulsion of Revengers falls under Article 148 of the Namibia Football Association’s Disciplinary Code.
“The results involving teams against Revengers in the second round will thus be revoked and declared null and void, except the first leg results,” !Ganeb said.
An official from Revengers FC, Ricardo Mbahee attributed the team’s failure to play the matches to a shortage of players in the second leg.
“We mostly had school boys from the Kamanjab Combined School and it became difficult to make use of the players as they were required to attend extra classes over the weekend. Other players we registered left Kamanjab because of job commitments and we decided to stop playing matches and rather re-strategise for next season,” Mbahee said.
Meanwhile, PUBS were docked their point against Etosha United played in Ombika on 15 July for having used an ineligible player with the latter given three points.
The match ended in a goalless draw.
The player in question, Brian Nuwuseb, was registered by Roots FC in the already-concluded Otjozondjupa Second Division.
!Ganeb said PUBS disregarded the internal agreement of the circular dated 09 July 2018, which warned teams not to go into loan agreements with clubs in other regional leagues who completed their campaigns.
The league also suspended Romario Reibero, Willem Kamasiepo and Nuwuseb (PUBS), Jason Ameb, Ellis Haraseb, Desmond Tsuseb (Bethlehem Boys) and Edward Kamati (Black Africa Warriors).
All of them already played for Roots FC in the Otjozondjupa Second Division.
