WINDHOEK, 24 MAY – Close to 300 serviced plots will be availed by the City of Windhoek (CoW) in Rocky Crest by February 2019 through a Public-Private Partnership agreement.
This came to light during the ground-breaking ceremony of the Rocky Crest Extension 4 development here on Wednesday.
The partnership agreement was signed by the CoW, Otweya Land Developers, Development Bank of Namibia, the Government Institutions Pension Fund and INO Harith Capital for the development of infrastructure services such as water, roads, sewer and electricity.
In a speech read on his behalf, CoW Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kahimise commended the development partners for addressing the shortage of serviced land and housing in the city.
“This marks the fourth successful PPP agreement delivering 300 serviced erven in the co-development of housing units,” he said.
Kahimise stated that providing much needed serviced land and housing is part of the city’s five-year strategic plan to deliver 4 554 serviced erven through PPPs over the period.
CoW Mayor Muesee Kazapua emphasised on the importance of formulating policies and programmes that will ensure affordable housing.
