YANGON, Sept. 30 — A total of 1,096 people were killed and 3,004 people injured in 2,131 road accidents in Myanmar in the first eight months of 2025, according to the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) on Tuesday.
The figures recorded between January and August this year were down compared to 1,375 deaths and 3,837 injuries in 2,661 traffic accidents reported in the same period of 2024, the RTAD’s figures showed.
During this period, the Yangon region reported the highest number of deaths from road accidents at 239, followed by Mandalay region with 150 deaths and Shan state with 147, the RTAD data showed.
In 2024, a total of 2,011 people were killed and 5,576 others injured in road accidents across the country, official data showed(Xinhua)
