Woman found dead in Windhoek
WINDHOEK, 10 APR – The half-naked body of an unidentified woman believed to be in her late thirties was found in a riverbed near the Western Bypass in Windhoek on Tuesday.
A pedestrian found the body around 08h00, a police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity told Nampa at the scene.
He said they suspect the woman was strangled and hit with a sharp object. They also did not rule out the possibility that she was raped.
“The deceased was found lying on her stomach in a pool of water. She had on a t-shirt only,” said the officer.
He noted there were indications that the woman was dragged about 70 metres from where she was assaulted into the riverbed.
“The victim’s trousers, underwear, shoes and earrings were found in a bundle in the riverbed,” he said.
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the matter.
This was after a security guard at a business premise close to the crime scene claim to have seen the woman and the suspect, who is her (guard) colleague, entering the same premises together Monday night.
They apparently spent about an hour there before leaving. The guard said the woman had allegedly been arguing with the suspect.
“A few minutes after they left I heard the woman screaming but I could not see what was happening because they were some distance away,” she said.
