ONGWEDIVA, MARCH 15 – The 29th Independence celebrations will this year be held in Windhoek at the Independence Stadium.
This was announced by the Ministry of Information and Technology on Thursday.
Asteria Ndjendja Information Officer under the division of media liaison services, said President Hage Geingob has directed that the 29th independence celebrations be held in the Capital on 21 March.
“Preparations for the celebration of the Independence Day have started and further information will be communicated in due course,” said Ndjendja.
According to her, the President of the Republic of Kenya H.E Uhuru Kenyatta will be the guest of honour at this year’s independence celebration.
She added that guests at the event will be treated to various cultural and music performances and other entertainment activities.
“As usual the independence al transport will be availed to transport members of the public to and from the Independence Stadium in Windhoek. Pick up points will be communicated at a later stage,” noted Ndjendja.
The 28th celebration was last year held in Tsumeb in the Oshikoto region. – NDN Staffer
