WINDHOEK, 14 JUL – A man died instantly after he was hit by a vehicle on the Western Bypass here on Friday.
City Police spokesperson, Edmund Khoaseb confirmed to Nampa that the incident took place a few minutes after 07h00 and that the vehicle was travelling from the north towards the southern direction.
“It appears that speed and reckless driving could have been involved,” he said.
The driver allegedly overtook on the shoulder of the double line road where the deceased was standing, Khoaseb said, adding that the driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The next of kin of the deceased are yet to be informed.
Khoaseb cautioned members of the public to adhere to the set speed limits.
