WINDHOEK, Oct. 4 — Wernhil Shopping Centre, owned by Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group subsidiary Broll Namibia, ushered in the first month of spring with the 2023 instalment of the Wernhil Fashion & Lifestyle Extravaganza. This vibrant event comprised a shopper competition, a call for local models, and an array of stylish celebrations, culminating in a spectacular Fashion Show held in the shopping centre’s atrium on September 30, 2023.
Kicking off the extravaganza was the launch of the Shopper Competition, which ran from August 25 to September 26, 2023, offering participants the opportunity to win a share of N$40,000.00 in vouchers redeemable at any Wernhil store. Simultaneously, Wernhil initiated its Model Competition, calling on budding models from the public to grace the runway. From the pool of entrants, nine models were selected to participate in what truly became a showcase of local modelling talent. As part of their prize, these chosen public models received professional modelling coaching from an experienced choreographer and show director. They also took home food products from Pasta Polana, one of the event’s sponsors.
On the day of the Fashion Show, under the energetic guidance of Master of Ceremonies Edward Ward, the public models donned outfits provided by TFG Limited. As an added bonus, these models were allowed to keep their TFG-sponsored attire. The public models strutted their stuff in outfits from various brands, including Shaun Gereseb (Totalsports), Willy Iteriteka (Sportscene), Delight Makute (Exact), Aquella Cloete (The Fix), Magdalena Nangenda (Foschini), Geraldine Heuer (Jet), Elifas Lineekela (Relay Jeans), Catherine De Klerk (Sportscene), and Mario Tjazerua (Markham).
The runway also featured models from Diamond International, who showcased an array of looks spanning beachwear, sportswear, casual, smart casual, and formal wear, all sourced from Wernhil tenants such as Big Daddy, Edgars, John Craig, Dunns, Legit, Milady’s, Exact, Fabiani, Foschini, Markham, Sportscene, The Fix, Relay Jeans, and Totalsports.
A noteworthy highlight of the Fashion Show was the participation of Top Score, another proud sponsor of the event. Models Nomvula, Rika Kandanga, and Jean Pretorius donned outfits designed by Diana from Graceys Collections, using materials sourced from Top Score packaging.
In keeping with Wernhil’s commitment to community involvement, the extravaganza also featured a crucial Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Throughout every Saturday from September 2 to September 30, 2023, members of the public were encouraged to donate clothing items, toys, food products, and toiletries to benefit care homes, schools, and other charitable causes. The second phase of this initiative is set to roll out in the coming months, ensuring that the recipients receive their fair share of the generous donations.
The entire extravaganza was a heartwarming celebration of Wernhil’s tenants, with Dis-Chem sponsoring the models’ makeup and Mr. Price Home contributing to the event’s decor and stage design. Abundant vouchers were generously distributed to the public at the Fashion Show, thanks to the sponsorship of Wernhil tenants. Refreshments for the models and crew were also provided through the support of these generous sponsors.
