KEETMANSHOOP, 03 DEC – Assistant Magistrate Cornelius Cloete issued a warrant of arrest for a 32-year-old police officer arrested here on Friday after being found in possession of drugs.
The officer failed to show up for his first appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court today after he was granted police bail of N$500 over the weekend.
Prosecutor Frederick van der Colf in court urged for a warrant of arrest to be issued with immediate effect.
He also said the suspect has until 17 December to report to court and if he fails to do so, the bail money will be forfeited to the State.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for //Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday the officer was arrested on duty Friday around 23h30.
“He reported for duty under the influence of alcohol and was searched by a member of the Drug Unit. He was found in possession of two half Mandrax tables and one gram of cannabis valued at N$110,” Mubebo said. – NAMPA
