Two underage boys allegedly sodomised in Rundu hostel

RUNDU, 16 Apr – Two boys aged nine and 12 were allegedly sodomised at the Dr Romanus Kampungu Secondary School in Rundu last Thursday.
The attacks were said to be carried out by two other boys aged 10 and 12 and a man aged 27 around 23h00 at the school’s hostel, where all four boys and the man stay.
Both victims and the suspects have hearing impairments.
Namibian Police Force Kavango East Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Bob Kanyetu told Nampa on Monday the two younger suspects had sexual intercourse with the nine-year-old boy without his consent.
“The 27-year-old man had sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old victim,” he said.
The three suspects were arrested but are in the care of social workers at the Women and Child Protection Unit due to their age and disability.
The older suspect was set to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, but because a sign language interpreter could not be found in time, he will appear on Tuesday.
The cases of the minors have been referred to the Prosecutor General’s office for a decision.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
