REHOBOTH, 16 AUG – Try Again Football Club from Keetmanshoop will host a football bonanza at Keetmanshoop’s J Stephanus Stadium next weekend.
The tournament takes place from Saturday until Monday and is open to all first, second and third division teams, as well as non-league football teams.
Coach and organiser of the tournament, Quintin Visagie told Nampa on Tuesday they hope to make it an annual event for teams from all over the country. He said it will serve as a pre-season tournament for teams playing league football.
“It will serve as pre-season preparation for teams in different divisions. It is also a way for players to compete against different players,” he said.
The registration fee per team is N.dollars 3 000 and the winner will walk away with a handsome amount of N.dollars 30 000, while the runner-up will get N.dollars 15 000.
The losing semi-finalists will each receive N.dollars 6 000, while the quarter-final losers will each receive N.dollars 3 000 for their efforts.
The player of the tournament and best goal poacher will each receive N.dollars 500.
Visagie urged all teams to take part in the football bonanza.
“I want to extend an invitation to all football lovers and teams to find their way to the home of football, Keetmanshoop, to see the talent on offer,” he said.
The closing date for entries is 24 August, which will also be the draw date.
A maximum of two Namibian Premier League players are allowed per team.
Sponsor TJ Civil has availed N.dollars 70 000 for the hosting of the event.
