Windhoek, August 14 – In a shocking incident that has left the community of Mungunda Street in Katutura reeling, a brutal murder took place on Sunday, August 13, 2023. At approximately 16:40, a house on Mungunda Street became the scene of a horrifying crime that sent shockwaves through the neighborhood.
According to initial reports, a group of approximately five male suspects descended upon the residence, armed with a pistol and a panga. Their primary target appeared to be the owner of a parked Polo Vivo vehicle on the premises. The suspects, whose identities remain unknown, proceeded to search the rental rooms on the property.
Tragedy struck when the suspects located the individual they were looking for, believed to be the owner of the Polo Vivo. An altercation ensued, escalating into a violent confrontation. During the altercation, the suspects resorted to using deadly force. The victim, identified as Patrick Hawala Hamupunda, known by the alias “Waka,” tragically lost his life in the incident. Hamupunda, a 31-year-old male from Namibia, fell victim to a combination of cutting, stabbing, and gunfire.
Following the gruesome attack, the suspects swiftly fled the scene, making their getaway in a sky-blue Citroen vehicle. As of now, their identities remain shrouded in mystery, and law enforcement authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the case.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of the tragic loss, leaving them devastated and mourning the untimely death of their loved one.
