Tsumeb, Aug. 8 – Tsumeb authorities are currently investigating a distressing case of drunk driving, following the tragic death of a 29-year-old Namibian male, Nikky Willemse. The incident occurred around 4:00 AM, when a car drove over him, resulting in multiple fractures all over his body. The accident took place on the Tsumeb/Grootfontein road, approximately 2 kilometres from Tsumeb in the Oshikoto region.
According to statements from Inspector Ellen Nehale, the deceased was lying on the road when the driver of a white sedan Ford Figo, travelling from Tsumeb to Grootfontein with two passengers, noticed him at close range. Shockingly, the driver proceeded to drive over the body, leading to the immediate death of the victim.
The lifeless body was later conveyed to the Tsumeb State Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. At this time, the next of kin has not yet been notified. The 30-year-old Namibian male driver, responsible for the tragic incident, has been apprehended and is set to appear before the Tsumeb Magistrate Court on Monday. – Namibia Daily News
