RUNDU, 29 MAR – Swapo’s Ritha Sindjanga has been elected as the new regional councillor for the Ncuncuni Constituency.
Sindjanga and the All People’s Party’s Paulus Mangundu contested the position during the by-election which ended here on Wednesday.
The position was left vacant after the death of Rosa Kavara earlier this year.
Electoral Commission of Namibia Public Relations Officer, Vikitoria Hango told Nampa on Thursday the total votes cast were 1 452.
Sindjanga won the race with 1 097 votes, while Mangundu garnered 355 votes.
There were no spoilt ballots.
The ECN earlier this week indicated there are 5 040 registered voters for the constituency.
