ABUJA, April 1 — Augustine Eguavoen, head coach of Nigeria’s national football team resigned from his position on Thursday as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced to overhaul of the Super Eagles’ technical staff.
The NFF said in a statement that the development was a consequence of the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup billed for Qatar.
In the meantime, the NFF said to have withdrawn the two-and-a-half-year contract offered to the team’s coaches and a new technical crew would be announced for the team after a proper review.
“The new technical crew is to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately,” the NFF said.
The second leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Ghana on Tuesday ended 1-1, resulting in Ghana qualifying for the World Cup on away goals. (Xinhua)
