OSHAKATI, 15 JUN – The police in the Oshana Region are on the hunt for the three men who allegedly robbed a pensioner of N.dollars 20 000 near the Oluno clinic in Ondangwa on Monday.
Inspector Petrus Iimbili of the Namibian Police Force’s Public Relations Unit in Oshana confirmed on Thursday that the victim, identified as Andreas Abraham, withdrew N.dollars 20 000 from his bank account at Ondangwa.
He then got into a white Toyota Corolla which had no registration number plate that he believed to be a taxi.
Abraham, 63, allegedly told the driver of the car he was going to Onethindi settlement, also in the area of Ondangwa, before two other men also got into the same vehicle, with one going to the same destination as him and the other to the Oluno clinic.
Iimbili pointed out that as they were approaching the clinic, the driver slowed down his vehicle and one of the suspects then grabbed the victim around the neck and robbed him
“The other came out, sprayed the victim in the face with teargas and they pushed him out of the vehicle,” said Iimbili.
The suspects then sped away from the scene and were still at large by Thursday afternoon.
Police investigations continue.
