ONGWEDIVA, Sept. 11 – Founding President and Father of the Namibian nation, Dr Sam Nujoma has called on all Namibians to unite so that the whole nation can enjoy the fruits of Independence.
Nujoma made the call while inaugurating the Clemens Handuukeme Kashuupulwa Growth Centre at Oshikondiilongo village in the Oshana region.
Community members of Okatana constituency has put resources together to build the centre with the aim of cratering for all people in Omulathitu and Oshikondiilongo villages.
The centre was named after the first regional councilor of Okatana constituency and current governor of Oshana region Clemens Kashuupulwa for the role he played during the liberation struggle and subsequently after the attainment of the freedom of the country.
The centre consists of the Mahangu Processing Plant, an Elderly Pension Shelter and it will also house the party branch office.
Nujoma said now that the country is independent, the economic struggle will require the same sacrifices and selflessness that the brave sons and daughters of Namibia made during the struggle for its political independence.
“Our economic emancipation will also require our countrymen and women to forget about selfish ambitions and instant wealth accumulation,” said Nujoma.
He also urged the nation to keep the spirit of patriotism and nationalism alive in order to continue developing the country and emulate the legacy of the heroes and heroines of the liberation struggle.
By doing so, he believes that citizens will be able to carry the torch of freedom forward and take the nation to greater heights.
He further urged people to remain united as one Namibia, one nation adding that a people united, striving to achieve a common good for all members of the society, will always emerge victorious. – Maria Abraham
