WINDHOEK, JULY 22 – The Nedbank Kapana Cook-off competition is fast approaching the finals, with the last pre-round taking place in Gobabis this coming Saturday, 27 July at the Gobabis Shopping Mall from 09h00, before the final scheduled to take place in August in Ongwediva.
“To date, the semi-final rounds have taken place in the Northern, Central and Coastal regions. Competition was tough but at the end our winners emerged with the tastiest Kapana I’ve ever had,” said Elsa Carstens, Events Manager at Nedbank Namibia.
For the fifth year in a row, Nedbank Namibia is hosting the “Nedbank Kapana Cook-off” in search of Namibia’s best Kapana varieties. The final round will take place during the Ongwediva Trade Fair on 24 August 2019.
“We expect many spectators and supporters during this busy time of the year.”
“The national winner will be awarded with an opportunity to formalise their trade with a fully-fledged Kapana container shop as well as a Nedbank bank account with an N$15,000-cash balance. Additionally, Nedbank provides access to skill building through an SME mentorship programme,” she explained.
The Namibia Chefs Association (NCA) judges the participants by evaluating hygiene, presentation and taste.
The winners so far are as follows: Emiliana Shoombe, Sakaria Apulile, Matheus Kanyoloo and Delila Shapaka from the North; as well as Rosaria Nujoma, Helene Thele, and Jonathan Bock from Central; and lastly Laura Egumbo, Elly Shetukana and Millecent Johansson from the Coast.
Nedbank together with its partners, Namib Mills, Meatco and Pick ‘n Pay kicked off the competition with a media cook-off earlier this year at the Kraal in Windhoek. For any enquiries, please send an email to ElsaCA@Nedbank.com.na or phone (061) 295 2334.
