WINDHOEK, 21 JUL – Former Prime Minister and Speaker of the National Assembly, Theo-Ben Gurirab has taught Namibians to be united and keep the country’s flag high, said former Member of Parliament, Ben Amathila.
Delivering the eulogy of the late Gurirab here on Friday during the state memorial service, Amathila emphasised that Namibia has the capacity to unite and act united as well as keeping the Namibian flag high through his achievements.
“Gurirab’s achievement has given Namibians room to put aside their differences and to think of where the country has come from and where it should be heading. We should take courage from his achievements and embrace them in making Namibia greater,” said Amathila.
Amathila emphasised that young Namibians should emulate from his achievements that having come from a small country in Africa, such as Namibia, he became the president of the United Nations General Assembly between 1999 and 2000, a position that added value to Namibia.
“Theo-Ben you are silent now, but you have given us hope to be proud of your achievements and to emulate from your achievements,” he concluded.
