Namibia to launch Windhoek Fashion Week 2019


WINDHOEK, July 22 — Namibia’s annual popular fashion event that brings together fashion designers, models and media together from across Africa, yesterday has made a call for fashion designers to submit their entry forms to showcase their work.

Started in 2016, the Windhoek Fashion Week has gradually grown to become a major event in Southern Africa. Thus far fashion designers from Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa showcased have showcased their work.

“The Windhoek Fashion Week is certainly one of the biggest fashion events in southern Africa. In November 2016, Namibian designers first showcased their talent on the runway in the inaugural fashion week. In 2018, Windhoek Fashion Week has grown much bigger with a record number of 450 models who came through to cast for the fashion week. This is double the number of models who came to cast in 2017 for the second annual event. Last year was a huge success,” said Kalistu Ramos Mukoroli, one of the co-founders.

Kalistu said they are looking for fashion designers who has fresh and hype.
“We are looking for good quality wear that will blow people’s minds. We welcome both genres. Our fashion show is for both female and male,” said Kalistu.
This year event will be held from November 5 to 9. – XINHUA
