WINDHOEK, 24 MAY – The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare launched its strategic plan, customer service charter and website here on Wednesday.
The ministry also launched its brochures on its blueprint on wealth redistribution and poverty eradication that has been translated into various local languages.
Minister of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Zephania Kameeta said they engaged in various processes, consultations and dialogues to ensure the mandate of the ministry, which is to initiate, implement and coordinate national programmes to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality, is contained in the document.
“The plans were developed to guide the actions and priorities of the ministry for the financial period between 2017/18 and 2021/22 in line with the fifth national development plan and the Harambee Prosperity Plan,” Kameeta said.
He added that efforts were made to simplify the strategic plan so that it can be understood by all stakeholders.
“The document has also been translated into Braille. This document is for all Namibians and no one should feel left out,” stated Kameeta.
He also launched the ministry’s customer service charter and encouraged employees to go out into the community where their services are needed and “not just sit in their offices.”
