Mariental teen denied bail for death of father

REHOBOTH, 25 APR – The teenager accused of murdering his father in Mariental on Monday, was denied bail by the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested at Mariental on Tuesday after the murder of his father in the Aimablaagte residential area.
It is alleged that he stabbed his biological father in the chest with a sharp object. It is unknown what led to the stabbing.
The 38-year-old victim, whose name cannot be mentioned to protect the underage boy, was rushed to the Mariental State Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
The boy made his first appearance in front of Assistant Magistrate Eveline Stephanus and was denied bail and remanded in custody.
The case was postponed to 14 June to allow for further investigations.
