Man commits suicide on Christmas Day


WINDHOEK, 27 DEC – A 40-year-old man reportedly took his own life by hanging himself with a rope on Christmas Day.
His body was found near the road between the Monte Christo Service Station and Okahandja Park on Tuesday around 07h40.
A crime report issued by City Police spokesperson Fabian Amukwelele said the man hanged himself with a blue rope in the bushes.
The motive for the suicide is not known as no suicide note was left behind.
The deceased was identified as Deli Terence and his next of kin have been informed.
Also at Okahandja Park, an unknown man was found dead with a stab wound on the left side of his neck.
The body was found at a soccer field in that area, at about 06h02 on Tuesday.
Amukwelele said a suspect turned himself in at the Wanaheda Police Station the same day and is due to appear in court on Thursday.
No further details were provided regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, a shack burned down in Fillemon Eichab Street in Katutura around 12h30 on Tuesday.
According to Amukwelele, the fire started in the shack that is behind a house and spread to the main bedroom of that house.
The fire brigade however managed to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the main house.
The shack, which burned down completely, belonged to the daughter of the owner of the house who was out of town at the time of the incident.
No loss of life was reported and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
