WINDHOEK, 26 JUL – The coach of Namibia Rugby Premier League semi-finalists Wanderers, Vince Dreyer said Western Suburbs will not be lucky when the two outfits meet in the semi-finals of the league on Saturday.
Wanderers this season lost twice to Suburbs in their league encounters and look set to overturn their fortunes against Suburbs as they hope to book themselves a spot in the finals of the competition.
“Our players are motivated to do well. We lost to Suburbs this year because we failed to score from our kicking conversions even though we outscored them on tries,” he said.
Dreyer added that during the semi-final playoff anything can happen, as long as they get their execution right.
“It will be difficult for Suburbs to beat Wanderers three times in a row because this is the semi-finals and you get such an opportunity once and it needs to be used. We are going through our process and if we execute, on Saturday everything will be fine,” he said.
Western Suburbs coach Shaun Kaizemi told this news agency they have not lost to Wanderers since 2017 and he hopes their luck against them will continue this weekend.
“This year our focus has been in their scrums and fly half which will disrupt Wanderers flow. We started the season badly but have picked up at the right time as the league progressed and our players want this cup more than the coaching staff,” he said.
Kaizemi added that as a team they had a great pre-season and it has helped them keep up with all the games they have played thus far.
“Ending second in the league gives us motivation to work hard in the semi-finals and this is the year for Suburbs to lift the trophy. We will go full out when we meet Wanderers,” Kaizemi said.
