OTJIWARONGO, 29 MAY – Otjozondjupa Governor Otto Ipinge on Tuesday delivered his third State of the Region Address at Otjiwarongo, highlighting various development activities in the constituencies, settlements, towns and at regional level.
More than 500 people from various towns in the region gathered at the Swanevelder Community Hall to listen to his address.
Ipinge amongst others mentioned completed road infrastructure projects between Gobabis and Grootfontein, boreholes that were drilled, electrification of informal settlements and expected telecommunication connections coming to the region before the end of this year.
With regards to land servicing and housing projects at Okahandja, Okakarara, Otjiwarongo, Otavi and Grootfontein, Ipinge expressed satisfaction with the work done by the local authorities.
He said about 282 serviced residential plots at Otavi’s Extension 4 have been completed under the 2016/17 land and housing delivery programmes.
“In Otjiwarongo, about 405 low to middle income plots have been surveyed and serviced by Government in the Heroes and Freedom park suburbs,” he added.
He also praised the Okahandja Town Council for the proclamation of townships in Okahandja’s Omuti, Camelthorn, Okakango River and Osona Village and for its efforts towards housing delivery in its capital projects of 2016/17.
The governor said 600 residential plots earmarked at Grootfontein will also help address the need for land at the town.
