Human remains of lost man found scattered at farm near Uis

REHOBOTH, 15 OCT  – The remains of George Gurirab, 44, were discovered scattered in the field at Dam 2 farm, about 16 kilometres from Uis in the Erongo Region at about 07h00 on Friday.
According to a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday, the pieces of clothing found at the scene were a blue jacket and black short trouser matching the clothes worn by a 44-year-old man who was reported missing at Uis on 17 March earlier this year.
The cause of his death is unknown and an inquest docket has been opened for further investigations.
In an unrelated incident, an on-duty City Police officer, Constable Reginald Vries, 33, allegedly committed suicide in Webb Street, Windhoek North on Friday at about 07h45.
After dropping off his colleagues, he did not turn up at the office, prompting his colleagues to visit his residence to establish his whereabouts.
When the colleagues arrived at his residence, they found him in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head in an apparent suicide. He is believed to have used a service pistol, which was found next to the body.
The motive is unknown and there was no suicide note left behind.
His next of kin have been informed of his death.
In another matter, a man identified as Shiwana Calvin Shiitaka, 29, died instantly after he was stabbed with a knife on Friday at about 21h30 in Saima Amunyela Street near Single Quarters in Katutura in the capital.
It is alleged that an argument started and a fight broke out between the deceased and three men, where the deceased was then stabbed with a knife in the chest.
A 30-year-old suspect was arrested.
Police investigation continues.
