Windhoek, June 22 – The return of Nedbank Namibia’s greatest mass-participation event, the Nedbank CitiDash 2023, promises to be an unforgettable experience for runners and the community alike. This historic event, scheduled on September 10, 2023, in the center of Windhoek, represents the joy of engagement, the revival of communal bonds, and shared experiences following the difficult quiet of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The CitiDash promises to fill the gorgeous streets of the capital city with excitement, thanks to the cooperation of professional event organizers, Cycletec, and OTB Sport. Bringing people, schools, and businesses together. This will be the third event of its sort. The event is being hosted thanks to a generous donation of N$400,000 from Nedbank Namibia.
Nedbank Namibia’s Executive of Retail and Business Banking, JG Van Graan, said, “Nedbank believes that running provides an opportunity to touch the lives of all Namibians. As a longstanding supporter of the sport, Nedbank is truly delighted to be the title sponsor of the third edition of the Nedbank CitiDash. I believe that this year the Nedbank CitiDash will once again have one of the greatest line-ups that Namibia running has ever seen”.
Yvonne Brinkmann, the manager of OTB Sport, emphasized her excitement regarding the Nedbank CitiDash and acknowledged all of this year’s sponsors. “This event unites us every year in a manner that few others can. It’s about teamwork as well as collective spirit, not simply the excitement of the race. It’s a special opportunity, and I’ve been eagerly anticipating it. I’m excited to see how this year’s event will build a feeling of community,” she remarked.
The 2,500 participants in 2019 were a fantastic turnout, and the event organizers are certain that CitiDash will be bigger and better this year. The event is projected to exceed all expectations thanks to increased participation, strengthening community spirit, and a higher focus on health and wellness.
Whether you’re a serious runner, a racewalker, or just looking for the ultimate family outing, the Nedbank CitiDash is an absolute must-attend event. There are two races in the event: a 5 km and a 10 km. At 7:00 a.m., the starter’s gun is anticipated to fire. The qualification time for top runners in the 10km CitiDash is set at 50 minutes.
“We anticipate that this elite event will once more draw top-tier elite competitors, eager newcomers, and even families seeking a fun and athletic trip. Furthermore, we think that this year’s Nedbank CitiDash will once again feature one of the best field sizes in Namibian running history,” said Van Graan.
Checkers, Ineos, iStore, NHP, and Paratus are among the companies that are supporting the Nedbank CitiDash this year. The best male and female athletes, including the top under-18 male and female athletes, and the top visually impaired and wheelchair athletes, will all compete for prize money totaling N$40,000 thanks to Nedbank’s kind support. The admission cost for the 10km elite race is N$250, compared to N$50 for the 5km and 10km fun runs. Online entry is available through PayToday Home (PayToday) or the CitiDash website (Nedbank Citi Dash | Facebook), and group submissions with more than 30 members receive a discount.
