WINDHOEK, 03 DEC. – The FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust recently handed over new school chairs and tables to the value of N$ 100 000 to Omatjete Primary School, Okongue PS Otjohorongo PS and Otjiperongo JSS.
The donation came after a visit to the Omatjete Primary School where abandoned desks and chairs – in need of minor repair work only – were seen on the school premises and the FirstRand Namibia Foundation and Omaruru branch decided to jump in and assist.
Jan Engelbrecht, FNB Omaruru Branch Manager said the simplicity of the idea as well as the difference just a small investment in repairs could make to the school and their learners, “resonated with us.”
“FNB Omaruru with the help of the FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust, through this project, would like to make a change to our community, to the teachers and the learners at our local schools. We have found a project we feel can be beneficial to all schools throughout our great nation, while promoting FNB as a sustainable partner to our communities. We also believe it’s of utmost importance to involve the community in the solution we are providing – we are not just supplying new tables and chairs – we are asking the schools or prisons to provide the labour and be part of the solution. We’re showing our country that together we can make a difference and a change,” said Engelbrecht.
Inspector of Education, Engelhardt Uirab addressing school board members and Principals in the Omatjete Cluster, thanked the FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust for the support and added: “We can only through collective efforts achieve our goal to educate and train the Namibian child and equip them to shape their future.” – email@example.com
