WINDHOEK, OCT. 25 – Some 50 industry leaders from 32 Finnish companies and institutions will form one of the biggest business delegations from Finland to this date when they accompany Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs, His Excellency Mika Linila, for a business visit to Namibia from 28 to 31 October.
A statement released by the Embassy of Namibia in Finland said Namibians looking for business partnerships with Finnish businesses had the opportunity to enter into real partnerships and joint ventures.
“The participants in the business delegation are interested in establishing partnerships with Namibian companies and institutions in the sectors of education, digitalization, energy, bioeconomy/cleantech, mining, minerals and metal processing technology, as well as machine building,” according to the statement.
A preparatory meeting for the visit took place in Helsinki on 24th October 2018, where Ambassador Bonny Haufiku was invited to make a presentation on Namibia, the foreign investment climate in the country and the national development priority sectors, as well as networking with the business delegation.
During his visit to Namibia, Lintila will meet with his counterparts from the Ministries of Mines and Energy; Higher Education, Training and Innovation; Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development; and Finance.
Lintila will also pay a courtesy call to H.E. Dr. Hage G. Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Mr. Nangolo Mbumba, Vice President, as well to Hon. Ms. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadilha, Prime Minister, and to Hon. Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.
Lintila described the visit as one of high importance, as it holds the potential to turn Namibia into a gateway for the Finnish businesses into the huge African market.
On 30 October 2018 in Windhoek Minister Lintila and the business delegation will hold an event on the topic “Finland World Ideas: Business Seminar on Cleantech, Digitalization, Education and Mining”.
