WINDHOEK, 08 NOV – The City of Windhoek has appointed Ludwig Narib, its Strategic Executive for Infrastructure, Water and Technical Services, as acting chief executive officer.
His appointment is effective as from Thursday, a media statement issued by Deputy Mayor, Teckla Uwanga said.
The statement also announced the suspension of City of Windhoek Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kahimise for three months as from 05 November 2018.
“The suspension was necessitated by the need to conduct an unhindered investigation into allegations constituting a gross breach of corporate governance levelled against the chief executive officer,” Uwanga said.
Kahimise was suspended in October, amongst others for allegedly awarding himself a study loan from the municipality.
It is alleged that the City paid close to N$170 000 for his studies without approval from the management committee, as required.
The right procedures were allegedly however not followed in suspending him and he was recalled to work last week for the suspension process to be started over.
