Windhoek, Feb 22 — During the hand over ceremony of the Video Record of the Chinese Astronauts Greeting Namibia in space yesterday His Excellency Zhang Yiming Chinese Ambassador to Namibia said”China will continue to train Namibian space science and technology personnel”.
The two countries are also considering some new cooperation projects, such as carrying Namibian seeds like Mahangu, and Sorghum to the space in the following missions and even sending Namibian astronauts aboard Chinese spacecraft in the future.
Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, Dr Itah Kandjii-Murangi while speaking on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Namibia thanked the Chinese Government for the good bilateral relations that exist between two countries.
The Minister said “the mission that went to space was indeed one of those that as country Namibia will benefit from”.
“The taking of the Namibian flag signifies quiet a number of things, the first one is the profound relationship that we have between the two countries, but secondly the ever growing bilateral agreement that we have which has been progressing very well particularly when we look at the ground station that has to come up here in Namibia with the support of the Chinese government.”she concluded.
The Chinese Ambassador to Namibia yesterday handed over a Video Record of the Chinese Astronauts on board Shenzhou12 as they move Over Namibia’s territory to the Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi yesterday at the Embassy of the People ‘s Republic of China in Windhoek.
