LONDON, Aug. 31 — Chelsea’s irregular start to the season continued when they surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 away to Southampton on Tuesday night.
Raheem Sterling’s third goal in two matches put Chelsea ahead in the 23rd minute, but Thomas Tuchel’s side only held on to their lead for five minutes before Romeo Lavia levelled the score, and Adam Armstrong scored what turned out to be the winner in first half injury time.
Everton remains winless but will take heart from an improved display that saw them draw 1-1 away to Leeds United.
For the second time inside a week, Anthony Gordon put Everton ahead, but Luis Sinisterra’s first Premier League goal earned Leeds a share of the spoils as the Colombian’s shot from outside the box wrongfooted Jordan Pickford.
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s fifth goal of the season helped Fulham end Brighton’s unbeaten start to the campaign with a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage.
Mitrovic opened the scoring three minutes into the second half and Fulham doubled their lead through Lewis Dunk’s own goal in the 55th minute.
Alex Mac Allister pulled a goal back for Brighton, but Fulham held on for their second win of the campaign.
The south London derby between Crystal Palace and Brentford ended in a 1-1 draw, with Yoane Wissa’s 89th-minute header cancelling out Wilfried Zaha’s excellent 59th-minute opener.
It is the second time in two games Brentford have saved a point in the last minute. (Xinhua)
