YAOUNDE, Jan. 11 — Cameroonian President Paul Biya on Tuesday met with visiting Comorian President Azali Assoumani in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroon.
Both leaders discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, boost the emergence of Africa, and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
President Assoumani, who is in Cameroon to support the Comorian national football team taking part in the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), said he was impressed by the “perfect” AFCON opening ceremony, which he attended Sunday.
“I was seduced by the perfect organization. I am very proud of Cameroon. Africa is ready. Today it is the AFCON. Tomorrow it could be the World Cup. It is possible,” President Assoumani told reporters after the audience.
Azali arrived in Cameroon over the weekend to support his country which is taking part in the 24-nation tournament for the first time ever. (Xinhua)
