OTJIWARONGO, 13 MAY – A 45-year-old man died in the Katutura Intermediate Hospital on Saturday after he was transferred from Otjiwarongo, where he sustained serious injuries in an accident on the B1 road Friday evening.
He has been identified as Patrick Jooste, said Namibian Police Force Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas in an interview with Nampa Saturday.
Jooste was driving a minibus when he allegedly lost control over it, causing the vehicle to roll several times approximately 17 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo at about 18h20 on Friday.
Andreas said the bus was coming from Okahandja towards Otjiwarongo, and had seven occupants aged between 45 and 64.
“All occupants sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital and were later all transferred to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital that same Friday evening,” Andreas said.
A case of reckless and negligent driving had been opened on Friday at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.
Jooste’s next of kin have been informed and investigations into the matter continue.
