KEETMANSHOOP, 05 AUG – The body of a 49-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree in an apparent suicide five kilometres outside Aroab in the //Kharas Region on Saturday.
The Namibian Police Force’s crime investigations coordinator for //Kharas, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday the deceased was identified as Ester Ipinge, who was reported missing last Tuesday.
Mubebo said police suspect no foul play and police investigations in the matter continue.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man was arrested Saturday night for the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman at the Schmellendorf residential area in Bethanie.
“It is alleged that the suspect took the victim from a shebeen to a riverbed, where he had sexual intercourse with her under coercive circumstances,” Mubebo said.
The incident occurred around 23h00.
Mubebo said the suspect is out on bail in another rape case and police investigations continue.
