WINDHOEK, Jan. 9 – The National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) has invited all artists to submit artwork for consideration for the BOOTH exhibition! This exhibition will take place in the Main gallery of the NAGN; each artist will receive 2x2m2 of ‘freedom’ to display their work.
These squares will be demarcated, and artists are invited to intervene in the space in whatever way they choose to. Demarcated areas, grids and boundaries are the make-up of BOOTH. Borders, confines, categories, margins and restrictions are ever-present throughout our daily lives, from the land that we live on to the type of characteristics we get defined by.
Artists are encouraged to take this opportunity to intervene into a delineated physical and conceptual space, working within the boundaries to challenge the boundaries.
Artworks can be 2D, 3D or ephemeral (performance) in nature. Submissions are not limited to Namibian Citizens or residents. Submissions should be accompanied by an artist statement about the artwork to the NAGN by 17h00 on Monday 5 February 2018.
Selected artworks will be on display in BOOTH from 20th February to 3rd May 2018.
It is not guaranteed that work submitted for consideration will be selected for exhibition. Unselected works will need to be collected by the artists once contacted by the NAGN. – NDN Staffer
